Jessica Alba brought daughter Honor with her to Washington, where she read The Cat in the Hat to children
Jessica Alba brought daughter Honor to Washington D.C. to celebrate reading on Wednesday alongside the First Lady and hundreds of schoolchildren
Alba, who is expecting her second child with husband Cash Warren, joined First Lady Michelle Obama and Education Secretary Arne Duncan to read Dr. Seuss on what would have been the beloved author's 107th birthday.
The actress, who masked her growing bump with a coat and a loose floral dress, read The Cat and the Hat while Mrs Obama read the Dr. Seuss classic Green Eggs and Ham to about 250 local elementary school students at the Library of Congress.
Alba shared her excitement about her trip D.C., tweeting 'just landed in DC with my lil princess. weather is mild -thank goodness,' when she landed on Tuesday.
On Wednesday she wrote, 'Heading to #readacrossamerica event at Library of Congress in DC. So cool!'
Alba let Honor swing down the stairs while leaving the event
Afterwards she and a friend shared a playful moment with Honor, swinging the delighted two-year-old by the arms.
At the event Duncan told the children gathered that his parents didn't allow television in his house when he was growing up, which helped him develop a love for reading and learning. The event was held to mark Read Across America Day.

The children were also treated to a reading by Green Bay Packers wide receiver Donald Driver, who read from his own children's book, 'Quickie Makes the Team.'
Read Across America Day is an annual celebration of reading held on Dr. Seuss' birthday by the National Education Association.
Dr. Seuss, whose real name was Theodor Seuss Geisel, died on September 24, 1991 after writing 44 children's books.
