Say hello to Flo: Cameron christens his cutie - and she gives her first wave to the cameras

The Prime Minister took time off from his international duties and the proceedings of state to concentrate on domestic matters today, as he and wife Samantha christened their young daughter, Florence.

Florence Rose Endellion Cameron was christened at St Mary Abbots Church in South Kensington, west London in a 45-minute private ceremony attended by around 90 guests.

With a shock of dark hair and a bright smile, she showed star quality, giving a little wave to the waiting cameras as the family posed for pictures on the steps of the church.

Dressed in a regal purple cardigan and tiny white dress and tights to protect her from the chill, she nestled in her proud father’s arms.

Her beaming parents looked enviably fresh-faced despite the demands of bringing up a six-month-old.

Only the second child in 150 years to be born to a serving prime minister, following Leo Blair in 2000, she was born in Cornwall last August.
She caught the family by surprise, coming earlier than expected while they were on their summer holiday.

Her timing earning her the unusual middle name of Endellion - which refers to the village of St Endellion on the north Cornish coast, near where the Camerons were staying.

She was born at the Royal Cornwall Hospital in Truro, weighing 6lb 1oz.
The couple have a daughter, Nancy and son, Arthur Elwen.

The church - a short trip from the Prime Minister’s residence in Downing Street – was where the couple’s son Arthur Elwen was christened in 2007.

Their daughter Nancy attends the school attached to the church.

They lost their eldest child, Ivan, who suffered from cerebral palsy and severe epilepsy, at the age of six in 2009.
