So much for the LA makeover: Leona Lewis ditches her edgy clothes and heels for a dumpy casual look

By DAILY MAIL REPORTER

Casual: Leona Lewis ditched her glamorous new style for some laid-back flats and a shirt in Miami

When she unveiled a sleek new hairstyle and and edgy wardrobe last month, there was a mass outcry from her fans.

And perhaps Leona Lewis took the complaints to heart, as she stepped out in Miami today looking much more like her old self.

The 25-year-old singer ditched the poker-straight blow dry, heels and fierce red carpet ensembles for casual attire as she grabbed a bite to eat after spending time in the recording studio.

Leona wore a simple black dress under a loose turquoise shirt and carried a grey leopard-print scarf.

The Bleeding Love singer wore print stockings and nude ballet flats, but heels would likely have made the outfit work better.

The mismatching flats and large print of the tights only gave the illusion of dumpy, short legs.

In contrast, Leona's figure looked slender and elongated in heels and high-waisted pencil skirts as she attended a variety of pre-Grammys parties in Los Angeles.

But while her new style is certainly glamorous, Leona's makeover didn't appear to be a hit with fans.

Commenters of forums pleaded with the former X Factor winner to return to her old, girl-next-door.

'Don't change, we like you as you are!' one commenter wrote, while another added: 'What a shame. She had a striking look before, you couldn't mistake her. Now she looks like all the rest.'

Hard at work: The 25-year-old headed back to a recording studio, where she working on her third album, after lunch

Some even speculated that Leona had undergone such a transformation, that perhaps she had gone under the knife.

Reports were abound about the singer have surgery on her nose and even a breast enhancement, both claims rubbished by her spokesperson at the time as 'utter nonsense.'

Many expressed concern that residing in the U.S. had gone to Leona's head and that she was conforming to the pressures of Hollywood.

Leona is living in Miami while she works on her anticipated third album, and like her changing style, it is expected to be a far edgier record with dance tracks as opposed to her usual pop ballads.

She has been in the studio working on a series of collaborations with big name producers including Toby Gad, Dallas Austin, Jeff Bhasker, Ryan Tedder, Harvey Mason Jr, Chuck Harmony, Ne-yo and David Guetta.

The singer also has her sights set on acting, and recently told E! Online that she's love to jump on the Glee bandwagon for cameo role.

'I'd love to be on Glee,' she said. 'I'd love to play a rebel. Be a real biker chick in leather and covered in tattoos. A real badass.'
